- Prepare a clean vase and fill it with fresh, room temperature water.
- Carefully remove the flowers from their wrapping.
- Using a sharp scissors or a knife, time 1-2 inches off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle. (Repeat this step every few days to help flowers drink properly).
- Remove any leaves that will be submerged in water. Leaves in the water can lead to bacterial growth which can shorten the lifespan of the flowers.
- On your clean vase with clean water, add flower food to the water if provided. Follow the instructions on the packet for the correct amount.
- Place trimmed flowers in the vase and ensure them stems are submerged in water.
- Change the water every 2-3 days or as the water become cloudy. Re-trim the stems each time you change the water to maintain freshness.
- Check the flowers daily and remove any wilted or dead flowers promptly. This helps prevent the spread of bacteria and extends the life of the remaining flowers.
